I loved both this beautiful reflection and the song at the end. It is so clear to me that the overlap between worship music and protest music is strong—what some call “engaging in a spiritual battle.” I’m excited for the rest of this series!
Thank you for diving into the definitions of these Hebrew words! I'm such a nerd when it comes to linguistic analysis. :) Words hold so much power, and yet their meanings shift over time--which is why it's so, so important to study their original definitions. I'm looking forward to your upcoming essays!
I didn’t know you wrote songs! This is great!
Thanks Andrew! Yeah, it's been three or four years since I wrote one, and a decade since I was writing songs regularly.
About the same for me since I shifted out of Worship pastoring to pastoring at church there has just not been as much space for that.
I will check out your songs. I really like the song Slain by Beautiful Eulogy. It starts off:
“If you don't seek justice, you probably don't know peace.
At least the kind of peace that Jesus brings us on account of belief.”
Just listened three times in a row - really good!

Thanks Amy; that means a lot to me!
Thank you for the deep language analysis! I think I need to write them out to practice their meaning with scriptures.
You're welcome, Laura!
Well done again brother (if I could sing) as our thought agree in many things.
Thank you, Dennis!
